God continues to bless His Church in Galway. Over the past several months Tim and other church leaders have been meeting one on one with potential church members. Last Sunday, 20 new members were added. We are amazed at the "hidden" gifting of these sisters and brothers. With a bit of encouragement many have begun to use their gifts and talents in the church. How fun it has been to see them teaching, singing, playing instruments, hosting events, setting up for services (and cleaning up afterwards) and much more. Our co-workers, the Post and Poths, are on home-assignment and it seems that the church is stepping up to the plate and serving were they can.
Easter weekend was a highlight at GCBC. We had planned for around 20 for the 2:00 in the afternoon Good Friday Service. What a surprise it was for us when over 70 came. Remembering the death of our Savior was a meaningful time for each of us. Around 50 woke up very early and braved the cold to make their way to Galway Bay for an Easter Sunrise Service at 6:10. One father woke at 4 to drive over an hour just to be there. The hot breakfast afterwards, the kids' program followed by the 11 am Worship Service and fellowship/refreshment time made this a perfect day for those who celebrate the reality of the risen Savior.
We have a summer intern. She is a delightful Irish lass named Sinead who has worked with preschoolers for several summers between college semesters. She has a love for God and His people. Please pray for Sinead as she works with children in the church. She is also very willing to help out in any way needed. Pray that this will be a very positive experience for her and that we will know how to guide and encourage her in her servant hood.
Ginny Snodgrass, a long time friend and supporter, came in April with her granddaughter, Sarah, to share her wisdom with the church. Her expertise in early childhood gave her an excellent platform to speak into the lives of folks at GCBC. We put her to good use. She gave the devotional at a baby shower for our newest mother and baby, facilitated 2 seminars on children, and taught preschool Sunday school classes. Thank you, Ginny and Sarah, for encouraging us all and reminding us of the importance of our little ones.
