April 13 2011
My friends, these are exciting days we are living in! God has blessed me soo much as I read through the Bible year after year. If you don’t have a regular Bible reading plan, I encourage you to get a one year Bible. As God opens my eyes while reading His Word, wow! The question always comes, “Lord, why do you love one like me?” What an awesome, holy God we serve! The Psalms remind us that His mercy and love endures forever. Even though we may go through some hard times, as Jesus said in John 16:33 "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." As we catch the news and knowing what His Word says about end times in Daniel, the gospels, 1 Thessalonians, Revelation, etc., can you but wonder how soon?! As one of my board members told me recently, “keep looking up”. Come Lord Jesus! Take a moment and read 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. You won’t regret it!
We have some pictures of things we have been working on. The kitchen looks new with a fresh coat of paint, refinished floor, and more worker friendly arrangement of tables, etc. The dining room floor also looks new again after refinishing and touch up painting.
Thank you for your prayers for Brian and Ashley’s son Landon. He came home from the hospital after his infection shortly after birth and is doing very well! His big brother Gabe is enjoying having a little brother around too. Landon just spent another day in the hospital with lung inflammation, but is home again doing well.
Their grandpa Tim is getting over strep throat. He went to the University of the Cumberlands to recruit summer staff feeling something starting. When he decided to go to the doctor a few days after coming home, they found it was strep. We are praying he didn’t give it to anyone and that he will be back on his feet as activities are starting up. I don’t know if you remember he tore a rotator cup tendon last fall while putting in our new pool liner. After much therapy, we thanked the Lord that we avoided surgery. Working this spring, the tendon was aggravated again, though it hasn’t kept him from work. Pray with us that this will heal completely.
Pam continues to be the healthier of us. She has been working on the kitchen, camp’s website & Facebook page, etc. We have a local food bank we get food from at very reduced prices and she has been getting that food ready for use. She is also working on menus and grocery lists for this year’s camping season. This year she also needs to renew her ServSafe food manager certification.
We are getting ready to celebrate our 13th anniversary at Camp Evangel on April 5. We are awed and thankful for the work that God has called us to here in Virginia and His faithfulness.
The grass is beginning to grow here and the mowers are ready to go. Now on April 1 & 2 we will be getting the buildings cleaned and ready for the campers to arrive.
Pray for strength and wisdom as our camp season grows longer and fuller. Pray for more full-time workers to join the ministry here at camp.
