Key Passage: 2 Timothy 2:14
Speaker: Ben Taylor
Discuss a time in your life when you felt God’s presence.
Read 2 Timothy 2:14-26. In v. 14, Paul tells Timothy to warn his people “before God.” Paul wants the Ephesian church to do everything they do as if God is present…right next to them. How would our lives be different if we truly believed and remembered that God could see everything we did?
It’s not enough to believe God is watching us all the time We have to believe the right things about God. How do people tend to view God? How does this affect how they live their lives?
What makes us so prone to quarrels and stupid arguments? How does believing the right things about God and practicing his presence help us avoid these things?
Look at the positive, God-honoring qualities that Paul wants us to emulate (love, peace, kindness, gentleness, patience, etc). How does practicing the presence of God help us cultivate these things?
In John 14:9, Jesus said, “If you’ve seen me you’ve seen the Father.” If we ever want to know what God is like, we only need to look at Jesus. What is Jesus like? How should that make us humble but also confident in God’s presence?
